Hospo Radar

Know before they open.

Hospo Radar follows UK bar, restaurant, pub and hotel openings from its first public record to opening night, so beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks teams make the first call, not the fifth.

How a venue gets on the radar

Most openings leave a paper trail months before anyone posts about them. We read it in the order it happens and link every signal back to the same venue. Planning, licence and company signals are being added city by city during the pilot.

  1. Planning

Change-of-use and new-build applications for restaurants, bars and pubs.

    3 to 12 months out
  2. Licence

Premises licence applications to sell alcohol, from council registers and notices.

    2 to 6 months out
  3. Company

New companies registered by known operators, matched to their groups.

    2 to 9 months out
  4. Announcement

Trade press, critics, city guides and the operator's own channels.

    1 to 6 months out
  5. Opening

Date confirmed, then opened, with the date checked against the venue's own channels.
